The religious leaders tried to trick Jesus so they could accuse him. They asked Jesus if it was OK to pay taxes to Caesar. Jesus asked them to show him a coin. Whose face is on it, he asked. They told him that Caesar's face was on it. Jesus told them they should pay Caesar what was his, and pay God with what was provided by God. So then the religious leaders were afraid to ask him any more questions. -- Artist is Ralph Pallen Coleman 1892-1968, United States
