Blessed are the Merciful

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy." Matthew 5:7.
I love this verse! I like to think of it as The Mercy Bank. If you think you might need some mercy someday, then you need to make deposits in the Mercy Bank. When you show mercy to others, you're saving up some mercy for yourself too.

People who live by the harsh code of the streets believe that it's every man for himself. And if that's the way you live, then that's what you'll get.

But Jesus teaches us a better way, and he promises that when we choose to be merciful, kind and compassionate: we are rewarded for it.
