We're in boot camp! The Bible promises us another home, another place, another time that is beyond the life we now live. God is generous in mentioning these things throughout His Word:
The Spirit of God is mentioned 27 times (in the ASV Bible.)
The Holy Spirit is mentioned 95 times.
The word Eternity is mentioned 23 times.
Heaven is mentioned 533 times.
Eternal Life is mentioned 36 times.
Everlasting is mentioned 77 times.
The Holy City is mentioned 11 times.
Angels are mentioned 192 times.
Demons (plural) are mentioned 55 times.
Demon (singular) is mentioned 27 times.
The Spirit is mentioned 270 times.
Glory is used 434 times.
Glorify is used 28 times.
Glorified is used 46 times.
Glory of God is mentioned 17 times.
Glory of the Lord is mentioned 3 times.
Glory of Jehovah is mentioned 34 times.
For Ever is mentioned 384 times.
God is mentioned 4110 times.
In order to be a Spirit-filled Christian we have to embrace the fact that God is Spirit, and the place where God lives is a glorious spiritual place.
The Bible is casual about all these things: God doesnt seem to think twice about it, as amazing words spin off the pages of the Bible. God has generously salted the Bible with those mysterious words, even though He doesnt explain much about them!
Furthermore, the Bible makes it clear that our own earthly reality is only temporary. In fact, the Bible implies that earth is only a staging area. One day the skies will peel back and the reality weve known will be changed in an instant.
Our life is only boot camp! We are living in preparation for our real life which is yet to come. The spiritual world is more substantial and durable than the life we know at this time!
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away... and I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. Revelation 21:1, 3-4
